ORIENTAL GIRL

None

ORIENTAL GIRL is a 6 year old filly by Dr Fong out of Zacchera, who is out of Palace Street, who Toby Balding trained so successfully.

She is owned by the Kimpton Down Partnership, which is made up of Club Members who wish to have greater involvement in their own horse.

ORIENTAL GIRL is now in training with Stan Moore in Lambourn and has settled in very well.

She ran at Chepstow on 25th May ridden by Richard Hughes and although she blew up, she still came 4th.

SUNDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER at GOODWOOD

Handcap Stakes over 1 mile & 2 furlongs

Oriental Girl ran so well again to come 2nd in a very competitive race. Her jockey, Robert Havlin, was very complimentary about her and felt she prefers this longer distance now

She pulled quite hard in a slowly run race but ran on in the final furlong to be the bridesmaid once again! She had good ground this time and her last run can be ignored as it was on tacky ground, which she doesn't like. As she gets older, she seems to appreciate this longer distance.

WEDNESDAY 12th AUGUST at SALISBURY

She ran a fantastic race to come 2nd of 14 runners, only beaten a length. She ran on well from the 2 furlong post but just failed to catch the winner before the line. The ground was a little firm for her but she was ridden very well by apprentice, Mark Halford, claiming 3 lbs. He replaced Jimmy Quinn, who was taken ill.

It was a very exciting day for her owners, most of whom were there to support her.

SATURDAY 13th JUNE at BATH

Fillies Handicap Stakes for three years old and upwards over about one mile. Ridden by Richard Thomas, she ran her usual gutsy race to come 4th even though the ground was really too firm for her.

TUESDAY 26th MAY at CHEPSTOW

She ran well to come 4th of 15 runners. Her jockey, Steve Drowne, felt the ground was a bit too firm for her but that a mile or a little further is the ideal distance for her.

She was held up and tracked the eventual winner and once she hit the rising ground about 3 furlongs out, she ran on well and kept on in the final furlong to just miss out on third place.

ORIENTAL GIRL WON AGAIN!

THURSDAY 7th AUGUST at BATH EVENING MEETING in the 8.05pm - Handicap Stakes for three year olds over 1 mile and was ridden really well again by David Kinsella.

The result went to a photo finish, so we were all on tenterhooks waiting for the result. There was a huge cheer from our group, as well as those in the stands, when she was announced the winner!

The ground was probably a little on the soft side for her, but she ran a very brave race to put her head in front on the line. She has been incredibly consistant and congratulations to our trainer and his staff for doing such a wonderful job with her, particuarly her lad, Sam. All the syndicate members came to Bath to cheer her home and a very exciting evening was had by all.

ORIENTAL GIRL WON!!!

She ran on MONDAY 23rd JUNE at CHEPSTOW at their evening meeting in the 9.20pm - Fillies Handicap Stakes for three year old fillies over about 1 mile.

There were eleven runners and she ran in cheek pieces again to help her concentrate. She has now got the hang of things, she won well by three quarters of a length. Her jockey, David Kinsella got on very well with her and she ran a fast time on good to firm ground.

Congratulations to all the members of the syndicate. A very exciting evening was had by all and thank you to those syndicate members, who were able to go along and cheer her on. She looks a progressive sort and we look forward to her running again.

FRIDAY 30th MAY at GOODWOOD.

Her jockey, Steve Drowne, gave her a lovely ride and she ran a fantastic race to just be pipped for 3rd place, on her first start on turf. It was a good class field and Steve Drowne said that, in his opinion, she will definately win a race in the future.
